Sundays at Riverbend Park, CambridgeEvery Sunday from the last week in April to the second week in November, the DCR closes Memorial Drive to traffic from Western Ave. to Alewife Brook Parkway (about 2 miles round trip) from 11am -7 pm. Parking is available on Mt. Auburn St. It's also about a half mile walk from the Harvard Square T. Skaters, bikers, and walkers can take advantage of this scenic stretch along the Charles River. The Inline Club of Boston organizes an advanced city skate that meets at the fountain of JFK Park (on the corner of JFK and Memorial Drive). Skaters meet at 10:15 and leave at 10:30. The skate is approximately 8-12 miles long and finishes around 12 pm. Participants skate with traffic in the street and strong braking skills are necessary. Helmets and wrist guards are required for this skate.
